From July 14th to 18th, 2025, FEA-VEE project held its first international study visit in Terrassa, Spain, with the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) as the host institution.
The event brought together 60 participants from six European countries, all connected to the textile and fashion industries, with the aim of strengthening vocational training, promoting sustainable innovation, and encouraging collaboration between education, industry, and policy-making.
The agenda combined academic sessions, technical visits, and interactive activities. Participants explored UPC’s textile research facilities and attended sessions on digitalisation, circular economy models, and sustainable production practices. One of the highlights was the Ecodesign Hackathon, where multidisciplinary teams redesigned textile products using eco-design and circularity principles, developing solutions with strong environmental, social, and economic impact.
The programme also included visits to organisations committed to sustainability and social impact such as Roba Amiga, Teixidors, and Technitiger S.L., as well as the Textile Museum and Documentation Centre, where participants reflected on fast fashion’s challenges and Europe’s textile heritage. The visit concluded with the Hackathon final presentations, where Outdoor Canopies was awarded for its innovative reuse of materials with limited useful life.
This first study visit has strengthened international cooperation among educational institutions, companies, and professionals. The project team is delighted with the participants’ enthusiasm and is already preparing the next stop: the second international study visit in Pforzheim (Germany), from 26–31 October 2025.
